Assistance Whilst Studying
For many people, the thought of having to pay $4,000 - $33,00 to study is daunting. Not only do they have to pay the fees, but having to take time of work to study, transport, moving, and other associated costs. It can be the turning point for people, especially if they dont know what support there are in place for them.
If you are 18 - 24 years old an studying full time, you may be eligible for centrelink payments depending on your situation. If you recieve Youth Allowance you may also be eligible for other payments such as living-away from home allowance, rent assistance, and the student start-up scholarship. If you are unsure about your eligbility, jsut call centrelink up. It can be a wait so make you have enough time.
Both the universities and TAFESA offer scholarships to a range of different people in different situations. Often some community groups do as well. It is also worth having a look to see if you could apply.
